Honda has launched the new CRF1100L Africa Twin Adventure Sports in India. It is the more capable version of the CRF1100L Africa Twin which will be launched at a later date. The Adventure Sports is available with a manual gearbox (Rs 15.35 lakh) and a DCT auto gearbox variant (Rs 16.1 lakh)( both prices, ex-showroom India). For 2020, the new Africa Twin range gets a new 1084cc motor, more power and new electronics.
While styling remains the same, the motorcycle gets features such as LED headlamps with cornering lights, a 6.5-inch TFT touchscreen display, Bluetooth connectivity and Apple CarPlay.
Engine capacity has now increased by 86cc to 1084cc. The liquid-cooled parallel-twin motor now delivers 102PS and 105Nm, an increase of 7PS and 7Nm. The new motor is Euro 5/BS6 compliant. While the previous Africa Twin came with just the DCT auto gearbox variant, the 2020 Africa Twin Adventure Sports model will be available in both 6-speed manual and DCT auto gearbox versions.
The new motorcycle also gets a new frame with a bolt-on subframe. Seat height has increased from the previous 820mm-840mm setup to 850mm-870mm but the seat is narrower by 140mm now. The Adventure Sports model gets Showa 45mm USD fully-adjustable fork and Showa preload-and rebound-adjustable monoshock. Its 21-inch front and 18-inch rear spoked wheels can accommodate tubeless tyres.
