Toyota has launched the Vellfire luxury hybrid MPV in India at Rs 79.50 lakh (ex-showroom pan-India).The Vellfire MPV is a luxury 7-seater available in a single Executive Lounge variant. It is powered by a 2.5-litre petrol engine which makes 117PS of power and 198Nm of torque. It is helped by two motors each mounted at the front and rear axle which pitch in 142PS and 68PS of electric power, giving the Vellfire electronically governed all-wheel-drive.The hybrid system charges itself up using brake regeneration and gives this behemoth a claimed fuel efficiency of 16.35kmpl.Features include a 10-inch infotainment touchscreen with Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, a 13-inch rear touchscreen, tri-zone climate control, dual sunroof, cruise control, a 17-speaker JBL sound system, and 16-colour ambient lighting in the roof. Safety equipment consists of 7 airbags, ABS with EBD, electronic stability control, front and rear parking sensors, electric parking brake with auto-hold function as well as a tyre pressure monitor.Toyota also told us at the launch event that it has already sold around 180 Vellfires in India.
